The first partners are being integrated into the Via Toll system

2026 10 23

In preparation for the launch of the new Via Toll electronic road toll system, the first contracts have been signed with suppliers of on-board units (OBUs) – the companies Magveda and Simbiotecha. These companies’ solutions are being integrated into the Via Toll system, enabling them to offer their customers accredited on-board units (OBUs) and the ability to use them to pay for journeys on toll roads in Lithuania. The list of Via Toll’s accredited partners will be regularly updated.

The integration of external service providers into the Via Toll system enables transport operators to use the solutions they are accustomed to and to manage toll payments more conveniently. Partners integrated into Via Toll will be able to provide services to their customers in accordance with the system’s established requirements.

In addition to the solutions offered by external service providers, tolls can be paid using the Via Toll app or by purchasing pre-paid journey tickets.

“We have signed the first contracts with external service providers who have been authorised to begin the process of integrating with the Via Toll system. This means that, once the integration procedures have been successfully completed, these companies will be able to offer their customers a Via Toll-approved OBUs and related services. The list of partners will continue to grow, as the integration process is complex and involves not only technical integration but also the submission of documentation, verification of compliance with national security requirements and testing. Companies are progressing through these processes at different rates, so some are ready sooner, whilst others require more time. We are continuing to work actively with external service providers and aim to ensure that the Via Toll system offers as wide a variety of payment methods as possible for kilometres travelled on toll roads,” says Martynas Gedaminskas, CEO of Via Lietuva.

The Via Toll system, which will come into operation on 1 January 2027, will replace e-vignettes and will be intended for operators of vehicles in categories M2, M3, N1, N2 and N3 used for the carriage of goods and passengers. As has been the case to date, drivers of light M1-category vehicles will not be subject to road tolls.

Via Toll is being developed to make the administration of road tolls as simple as possible for vehicle operators – from journey registration to toll calculation and payment. The option to use an OBUs for the transmission of journey data allows transport operators to choose the solutions they are accustomed to and to integrate toll payments into their day-to-day transport management processes.

The integration of external service providers is carried out in accordance with the technical and organisational requirements set by Via Lietuva. This process involves the submission of the necessary documents, the adaptation of technical solutions, testing and other preparatory steps. Therefore, companies wishing to become Via Toll partners are advised to begin the integration process as soon as possible.
