Via Lietuva’s Role in Strengthening Lithuanian–Polish Connectivity
At JSC Via Lietuva, we believe that roads are more than infrastructure—they are lifelines for communities, trade, and cooperation. That’s why we are proud to serve as Project Partner 3 in the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Programme project “Connectivity Across Lithuanian-Polish Border” (LTPL00352).
This project tackles one of the region’s most pressing challenges: limited connectivity that has historically hindered economic integration and social cohesion along the Lithuanian–Polish border. Our initial investment focused on reconstructing road No. 2505 Kapčiamiestis–Kauknoris, a critical link connecting border communities to the broader European transport network. The works are planned to be finalized ahead of schedule generating €891,888 of savings. These savings are part of a collective €2.97M efficiency gain achieved by all partners. Rather than stopping there, we’ve taken a bold step forward—submitting a joint request to use these funds into additional strategic infrastructure.
Our next priority? Reconstruction of state regional road No. 2511 Lazdijai–Galiniai, formally recognized in the Lithuanian-Polish ministerial memorandum as a key connectivity corridor.
Why does this matter? Because this road is more than asphalt—it’s a gateway for trade, tourism, and daily life. It strengthens interoperability between Lithuanian and Polish networks, enhances emergency mobility and defense preparedness, and ensures safer, more efficient transport for everyone.
If approved, these additional investments will expand total reconstructed road length from 22.24 km to 32.79 km, amplifying benefits for cross-border connectivity and regional development.
This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to maximize EU funding impact through strategic planning and partnership. Together, we’re not just building roads—we’re building resilience, opportunity, and a stronger future for border communities.
Stay tuned for updates!
