Contractors Dodge the Issue of Eliminating Defects

Due to contractors‘ delay, part of the defects identified during the state road quality audit last year will be eliminated only in 2020. Tunnel under Railway Opened in Plungė

An official opening ceremony of a tunnel viaduct under a railway level crossing has been held in Plungė. The railway crossing used to divide the city into two parts and to impede local and transit traffic. The construction of a tunnel viaduct will ensure smoother and more convenient movement of transport, will improve traffic safety and will reduce traffic jams.

On November 17 a social campaign Keep Sparking to remember those killed on the world‘s roads was held in three largest Lithuanian cities Vilnius, Klaipėda and Panevėžys. The focus of the current campaign is to arrange candles in the shape of a heart.

Road Šilutė–Rusnė Open to Traffic

Road No 206 Šilutė–Rusnė section from km 2.401 to 7.363 under reconstruction has been opened to traffic. Strengthening of the Rusnė causeway and road subgrade as well as road construction is one common project. The overhead is part of the project completed in May 2019.

A Newly Reconstructed Vilnius–Utena Road Section Open to Traffic

A new 4-km-long section of road A14 Vilnius–Utena (from km 16) has been reconstructed. The main road was widened from 2 to 4 traffic lanes and engineering traffic safety measures were implemented on the road.

Traffic Information Division Working in Winter Mode

Despite temporary warming, like every year, in October the Traffic Information Division (TID) of the Lithuanian Road Administration  under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (Road Administration) has already started working in winter mode. As usual, the Traffic Information Division will work 24 hours per day.

Road Vilnius–Kaunas Reconstructed into Motorway

The reconstruction of one of the most heavily trafficked Lithuanian state significance transport arteries has been started. The section from 10.000 to 95.000 km of the main road A1 Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda will be reconstructed according to the motorway requirements. After reconstruction, the speed limit of 130 km/h in summer and 110 km/h in winter will be introduced.

Reconstruction of Panevėžys Bypass on Via Baltica Completed

To improve traffic conditions on Via Baltica, the reconstruction of the 22-km-long Panevėžys bypass has been completed. It was widened from 2 to 3 traffic lanes and reversible traffic organization has approximated it to a highway.

The Road Administration Invites Tenders for Contract Works in 2020

According to the data of 19 August, monetary flows‘ obligations and administrative costs of the Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (the Road Administration) for state road management, maintenance and construction have already amounted up to 404.8 MEUR or 100 per cent of the budget of the Road Administration in 2019.
